kirakimori sent: How'd you get into One Piece! (I did via the husband. Since the time skip in the anime, we've gone from BF/GF to married ... will this arc ever end?)

Well Well Well this is a story. It’s funny because I have two good stories about getting into my two number one favorite series, One Piece and Gintama. But I’ll just talk about One Piece since you asked.

Actually I was apart of this site called gocomi.com that no longer exists. It was a website for the Go!Comi comics but also had a member area and kind of worked like MySpace but with anime fans. I had no idea what One Piece was about and I thought the art was really weird until someone on there told me about it. She told me the general plot, that it was about pirates, and her favorite character was Zoro. So I decided to at least give the first episode a try.

Now unfortunately, most One Piece fans tell people to skip the first episode which I think is completely mental. I watched the first episode, and the one thing that really got me hooked was Luffy. Then I went onto the next episode and Luffy was even more awesome. Just something about him really got to me. His personality was something I had never seen before in an anime and I needed to see what he would do next. So I kept watching.

While I was catching up, and I still have the big index card from me taking notes when saying which episode I left off on, I met a friend in my Japanese 102 class. Apparently he freaking LOVED One Piece and was so happy to hear that I was in the middle of watching it. (He still loves One Piece, I just haven’t heard from him in a while) Every class time when I would come in he’d ask “so which part did you get to now” and I would tell him and he’d be so happy about it. He’s a cool guy because when I first saw him in the class, he was wearing a sports shirt and I was like “what, what is a jock doing in a Japanese class” but shortly found out that he loved anime and actually won in the Japanese Speech Contest the previous year. And we sat at the same table and the first day he forgot his book so we shared and that’s how we became friends haha.

Anywaaaaay that happened when I was in the Thriller Bark arc I think, but back at that semester…dude I watched about 10 episodes of One Piece EVERY DAY. That’s how I was able to catch up. I mean I did homework and stuff but usually did it at school and once 6PM happened, I just sat on the computer watching 8 to 10 episodes a night. I was so addicted to it.

So that’s my One Piece story and how I got into it! Thanks for asking.

So you wanna catch up one One Piece:

skyyma:

Recently someone asked me how they should catch up on One Piece. They said they want to watch it but they don’t mind reading it either.

Essentially the fastest way would be to read it. BUT! If you really want to watch it, or prefer watching it, then I have made a list of which arcs to read and which to watch. So that you may be able to get through it the second most fastest way! I also listed which episodes are fillers in case you want to skip them. However, the fillers are really good to watch because they are well written. But if you want to catch up in the most fastest way, then I suggest skipping them.

The file is in a PDF format, but if you would like me to send you a different format, then just ask!

Also, I highly suggest watching One Piece because the voices really add depth to the characters, and I personally believe it is more dramatic when animated. So this list will help those who really want to catch up with in a month or two months. But like I said, the most fastest way to catch up would be to read it, and then maybe watch whichever parts you want.

So give this a try if you want to catch up on One Piece!

AND PLEASE REBLOG THIS IN CASE OTHERS ARE INTERESTED IN WATCHING ONE PIECE!

My EXACT reaction when I got to that part of my Re-Watch

Adventures in Rewatching One Piece
Episode 224: A filler
This filler is the one with the seahorse god who takes away the Strawhat’s memories.
There was a part where they started showing important figures to each members past.
1. When they showed Kuina, I started crying. Stupid filler making me cry.
2. Luffy got two people. That’s not fair! He got both Ace and Shanks.
3. Then they showed them all lined up in this picture I’m posting.
It’s a bit ridiculous.
I mean I know I probably would have teared up at all of them, especially Bellemere, but Kuina made me cry.
Because it made me think about something. What if Zoro was asked about his past? What would his reaction be to talking about Kuina? Would he talk about her? And seeing his reaction in this filler; it just kind of shocked me. Like I was shocked with him, seeing her. It was scary.
The end.

skyyma:

So I’m actually re-watching the entire One Piece series. I started it sometime last year, and you can view my previous posts under my One Piece Rewatch tag.

I was getting through this filler arc, and it’s my favorite filler arc ever.

Anyways, this scene had me cracking up. I didn’t remember this scene at all. Zoro casually claps, applauding Chopper’s acting, and I laughed extremely hard in real life.

I just had to share this scene with everyone. I will also put it on youtube.

Best. Filler arc. Ever.

Uh rebloging it? Because? No notes? I’m confused? It’s a hilarious One Piece scene? Moshi Moshi anyone there?

Adventures in One Piece Rewatch LINK

Since the tags didn’t work for most of my first posts for this, I am giving you a link to all of my posts. This link is also on my tumblr page, but I’m posting it here in case people look at the tag and see only 5 posts when really there are 10 or something.

There.

Adventures in Re-watching One Piece:

Episode 190

It’s been a while since you’ve made a weird face, Zoro.

I also finally finished watching the flashback with Calgara and Nortblanc. I completely forgot the whole story of it. So I was happy to watch it again.

Can’t really see why people pair Calgara and Nortblanc. They both had wives and kids.

Also, Enel once again invited Nami to go with him to Fairy Vearth (the moon).

Ummm I’m pretty sure she won’t survive in SPACE. Although, some how Enel DOES make it to the moon and we’ve seen him there in the manga chapter cover pictures. He must be, like, a real alien or something to be able to BREATHE in outer space.

But maybe space is different in the One Piece galaxy.

Anyways. Off to re-watch more.

(Also, my best friend who is catching up on One Piece for the first time finally finished the Thriller Bark arc (which is one of my favorite arcs). She would text me while she’s watching it and I’m just like “YEPP NOW YOU KNOW” hahaha. Was very happy when she finally finished Water 7 because NOW I can reblog things about Luffy’s Gear Second and Gear Third. AND I can post about Zoro’s Ashura and Sanji’s Diable Jamble. Love all four of those techniques. More in love with Sanji’s just because I like saying it hahahaha.)

OKAY DONE RAMBLING NOW MORE ONE PIECE

IT NEEDS TO BE SATURDAY NIGHT TOO BECAUSE I NEEDS A NEW EPISODE LIKE NAOS.

My best friend is catching up on One Piece

She’s currently watching the Thriller Bark arc.

Here’s our convo:

Amanda says: I just got to the episode about laboon

Sky says: i can’t remember when they first mention laboon again

Amanda says: yeah. I just got to the part where luffy and zoro and sanji wake up after getting their shadows taken

Sky says: when did they mention laboon?

Amanda says: that episode. cuz franky asks a question to brook about how he’s going to be lonely his whole life, and then he mentioned laboon, and then told luffy about it, and then the flashbacks of when laboon appeared when going to the grand line happened.

Sky says: oh okay. i didnt rememebr that part hahaha. wasnt sure when he first mentioned laboon
noooow you understand why i was so emotional when rewatching one piece and laboon showed up

Amanda says: yessss. I was so surprised when brook said it was laboon. I was like WHAT. OH MY GOOOOOOSH. HE’S STILL THERE, BROOK!! HE’S STILL THEREEEEE! WAITING FOR YOUUUUU

Sky says: SEEE I TOLLLLLD YOU, YOU THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY GETTIN ALL EMOTIONAL, NOPE.

Amanda says: HAHAHA CUZ I THOUGHT HE WAS JUST A WHALE. BUT HE ISN’T. HE’S FREAKING NAKAMA MAN.

Sky says: YES HE’S A NAKAMA NOW YOU UNDERSTAAAAND

Amanda says: I DOOOOOOOOO

Our conversations about One Piece usually end up with us going into capslock mode.

Adventures in Re-watching One Piece:

Again, 167.

Usopp asks Zoro to accompany him while he takes a release of bladder fluids.

AKA Usopp wants Zoro with him so he can take a piss in safety.

It was hilarious.

Now this next part I am not ready for at all.

Not ready at all.

MERRY.

That is all.

(They are camping on Upper Yard if you need hints on what part I’m talking about that is coming up next)

My body is not ready.

Adventures in Re-watching One Piece:

I am at episode 167 right now.

And I have come to a realization…

Nobody in One Piece wears socks.

Therefore, they all have stanky feet.

Adventures in Re-watching One Piece:

Episode 154….

There’s a moment, where everyone goes onto the Sky island, and Robin and Zoro have yet to get off the ship.

Robin says to Zoro “you’re going too, right?” and he pauses and then says “yeah I’m coming” but in a way like he’s still in awe that they are on Sky Island.

I really did squeal in real life when he answered.

I think I’m pairing them together now hahahahaha.

I mean, I paired them before, and I like that pairing waaay more than Frobin (Sorry Frobin shippers. I just don’t like that pairing. It scares me)

And of course I like it more than Zoro and Nami. Rewatching this series has showed me how much those two DON’T connect. They don’t have any chemistry together at all. And every time I see fan art of Zoro and Nami, even if it’s sexy, I have never once been turned out by it. In fact, I almost cringe each time. I believe those who were not made for each other.
